The Country Pub Project
Putting small town Australia back on the map, one pub at a time.
‘The Country Pub Project’ is a sustainable tourism initiative that revives Australia’s country towns by revitalising their country pubs—in structure and in patronage.
The core premise of the campaign was simple: encourage country pub landlords to list their accommodation with Airbnb, while simultaneously enticing travellers to go and stay with them. In doing so, we connected struggling rural communities with Airbnb’s existing global community of millions.
The Country Pub Project provided a much needed boost to regional economies, preserved important pieces of living history, and surpassed Airbnb’s own marketing objectives. In fact, it was so successful, it continues to live on well beyond its initial three month campaign period.
